The Crosses of Lafayette are a memorial to U.S. troops who have died in the Iraqi war. Located across from the local rail transit station in normally quiet Lafayette, CA a mock military cemetery has been erected, in protest of the ongoing conflict . Initially installed on November 13, 2006, crosses and other religious symbols have been erected for each fallen American soldier. At the time this photograph was taken, the memorial had accounted for nearly four-thousand American deaths in the U.S. - Iraq conflict.
